The Kyabram District League A-grade reigning premier is showing no signs of slowing down.

Tallygaroopna breezed past Longwood on Saturday in round five action and chalked up a 63-14 triumph at home to remain unbeaten and on top of the ladder.

Playing coach Fiona Down has been pleased with what she has seen from her 2022 premiership-winning outfit.

“We’ve started the season off really well and we’ve been fairly consistent,” she said.

“We haven’t played anyone in that top group yet, but over the next few weeks we will and that should give us an indication of where things are at.”

Saturday’s scoreline may have been one-sided on paper, but Down highlighted that Longwood provided plenty of headaches.

Mel Kittlety was outstanding in goals, while defensive duo Rebecca Brett and Bree Giles were at their best getting a hand on everything.

“It was a really solid performance and take nothing away from Longwood they gave us plenty to think about,” Down said.

“They are a very quick side and there was lots of moments where they forced us into errors. To our girls’ credit they settled and reset and got the game back on our terms which was really pleasing.”

Around the courts, Shepparton East maintained its unbeaten start with a classy win over Avenel.

The Eagles chalked up a 48-26 win that sets up an exciting contest this weekend against Tallygaroopna.

Dookie United edged out a gallant Girgarre, with the improved Roos falling by eight goals.

Nagambie returned to the winners’ list with a 44-34 win over Violet Town, while Murchison-Toolamba and Stanhope clinched wins over Rushworth and Undera respectively.

Lancaster and Merrigum played on Sunday with the scores yet to be posted online.
