Girgarre is starting to hit its straps in the Kyabram District Netball League.
The Kangaroos sit in second place on the ladder after a dominant victory over Nagambie in round five.
Coming into the match, both sides sat on three wins and one loss, but on Saturday afternoon, Girgarre showed its class and strength as it won by 26 goals at home, 57-31.
Co-coach of the Kangaroos Abbey Butler said this kind of performance was what Girgarre was capable of when the players produce a four-quarter effort.
“It has taken us a little bit to play a consistent four quarters,” she said.
“Yesterday was a true reflection of how well the girls can gel together and now we have played that consistent four quarters.
“We have played good patches from round one to now, but we haven’t played consistent four quarters. But yesterday, we were able to.”
Butler believes the team has taken some time to gel completely, but thanks to some off-field team bonding, the Kangaroos’ connectivity is beginning to grow.
The Girgarre coach was also proud of how well her side performed defensively against a quality Nagambie outfit.
“Our defensive pressure across the whole game was phenomenal yesterday,” she said.
“Our goalkeeper and goal defence in Allana (Adams) and Abi (Sergienko), that combination there was unstoppable.
“I think defensively-wise, when they had the ball, we were able to turn it over and capitalise on that.”
After losing to Dookie United in the semi-final last year, Butler said her side was determined to make a much more significant dent in the finals in 2024.
“They all have the fire in the belly and we want to take it to that next step this year,” she said.
“We have a hard game in (Lancaster) coming up, but I think the girls have showed they have exactly what it takes.
“There are still things we need to learn as a playing group, but we can just build on that each week.”

Shepparton East defeated Avenel away from home by 21 goals.
The Eagles now sit in fourth place on the ladder with four wins and one loss as they hunt back-to-back flags.
Merrigum defeated Longwood by 12 goals to secure its second win of the season.
Violet Town continued its undefeated start to the season with a 16-goal victory over Tallygaroopna.
In Sunday’s matches, Dookie United secured a mammoth win over Rushworth.
United won their match at home 79-28.
