Goulburn Murray Lawn Tennis Association has completed its final round of action before finals this weekend.

In division one, Shepparton Lawn The Valley defeated Shepparton Lawn Average Joes 7-74 to 5-58.

It wasn’t all smooth sailing for The Valley, which found itself down four sets to two halfway through the match.

But thanks to a dominant display in the doubles matches, where it won five sets on the trot, it eventually overcame Average Joes.

The two sides will meet again this weekend when they play in a do-or-die semi-final.

In the other division one match, Velvet Tigers defeated Numurkah Warriors eight sets to four as the Tigers secured top spot on the ladder.

Halfway through the day’s play, the match was evenly poised, with Velvet Tigers leading by one set (four sets to three), but from there the Tigers stormed home, winning four sets to one to take the chocolates.

These two sides will also face each other in the first week of finals.

The winner of that match will secure a spot in the grand final on March 16, while the loser will face the winner of The Valley and Average Joes’ semi-final.

In other action, there is still one more round to go before finals in division two.

Cobram Crocs sit atop the GM2 ladder after defeating Tatura Quakes on games won (62-56) in a tight contest.

Kyabram Bombers move up to second on the ladder after dominating KPOS Commandos nine sets to two.

Shepparton Lawn Demons also won nine sets to two against Numurkah Raiders, while Shepparton Lawn Blues beat Tatura Hurricanes in a nail-biter, winning on games won (61-60).

In the final round of GM3, Tatura Tornados defeated Mooroopna Cats 11-2, Numurkah Penguins beat Nathalia 10-3, Kyabram Redbacks conquered Kyabram Bombers 10-3 and Cobram Crocs took home the points after KPOS Captains forfeited.
