Mooroopna Primary School kids can now say an Australian international cricketer has bowled them over.

Not literally, but more in a sense of awe as one of the fastest female bowlers in women’s cricket, Tayla Vlaeminck, rolled the arm over and taught the aspiring batters and bowlers a trick or two last week.

Bendigo product Vlaeminck landed in the 3629 alongside male Melbourne Renegades counterpart Xavier Crone as part of the club’s Renegades Roadshow traversing regional Victoria.

Safe to say, Mooroopna primary was spoilt for choice.

Kids had to elect their chosen session of spiking and serving or bowling and batting as Volleyball Australia hosted a clinic the same day as the Renegades’ visit on Wednesday, August 21.

Nonetheless, those who picked cricket over volleyball were treated to an awesome experience as they quizzed Vlaeminck and Crone on what it takes to reach the sport’s pinnacle while being put through their paces on the oval.

News photographer Rechelle Zammit headed along to snap the action at the clinic.
