Some of the Goulburn Valley Playing Area’s best bowlers battled it out last week at the Goulburn Valley State Singles tournament.
Played across rinks at the Shepparton Park and Shepparton Golf bowls clubs, there was plenty of bowls action to keep supporters entertained.
Taking out the women’s event on Thursday, December 15 was Shepparton Golf’s Carla Miles.
Overcoming Shepparton Park’s Kate Bush 25 to 18 in the final, Miles recovered from a nail-biting two-shot win over Park’s Suzanne Tyson in the semi-final to take out the main event.
In the men’s event it was Tallygaroopna’s Mitch Sidebottom who came out on top, downing Kyabram’s Robert George 25 to 18 on Sunday, December 18.
Cruising through the early rounds of the competition Sidebottom’s seven-shot win in the final was his closest margin of the event.
