It was a disappointing start to Interleague netball action for the Goulburn Valley League on Saturday as the 17-and-under outfit suffered a tough loss to Ovens and Murray.

The junior netballers were handed a 62-31 defeat, before the open netball contest in the afternoon.

Ovens and Murray began brightly at Mooroopna Recreation Reserve with a 12-7 opening term.

The host regrouped at the main break and managed to add a further 10 goals to its tally in the third term.

However, Ovens and Murray held on to its dominant lead and ran out a 31-goal victor.

Shepparton’s Eliza Bicknell was another standout for the home side in the midcourt.

The clash on Saturday was a tune-up for both outfits as they prepared for Sunday’s Netball Victoria Association Championships in Albury.
