Shepparton District Tennis Association rumbled through its last round of matches for 2024 at the weekend.

At Karramomus Tennis Club, it was a battle of the section one cellar-dwellers as fifth-placed Karramomus took on sixth-placed Lemnos on Saturday.

After the previous two rounds were ruined by rain, Lemnos finally got to take to the court and the visitor’s pent-up energy was on display.

Lemnos won the contest 7-51 to 2-32 as it secured its second victory in four matches, including the two that were cancelled due to the weather.

The result means after a tough start to the summer, Lemnos is slowly gaining on its rivals as the league enters the Christmas break.

In section one's matches on Friday, ladder leader Shepparton North dominated McEwen Reserve Gold 8-49 to 1-17.

Meanwhile, McEwen Reserve Red produced a similarly commanding performance against Central Park, winning the match 7-49 to 2-33.

Down a division in section two, Karramomus defeated Murchison 7-45 to 2-32, while St Andrew’s beat Central Park in a tight encounter 5-41 to 4-30.

As the association stops to welcome St Nick to the region, Shepparton North sits atop the section one ladder, while Karramomus leads section two.

News photographer Rechelle Zammit was courtside to watch the section one clash between Karramomus and Lemnos and take some snaps of the action.
