The Shepparton Swans’ Goulburn Valley League under-18 football team fell to Echuca on Saturday morning, with the visiting side simply too strong.

It was an entertaining round 12 clash at Shepparton’s John Riordan Reserve, with the Swans challenging the ladder-leading Murray-Bombers for much of the contest.

After taking a 14-point lead into the first break and a 21-point margin into half time Echuca was in the box seat, before a big third term from the Swans saw the lead cut to just five points at the final change.

However, an impressive 19-to-nothing final quarter saw Echuca run away with the win.

Tyler McDonald stood out for the home side, as did James Auld and Alex Buzzo, while William Rohde was named best-on for Echuca for his five goals.

The first-against-third clash was a big one in deciding the title race and News photographer Megan Fisher was there to capture all the action.
