Shepparton Swans and Mooroopna under-18 talents swapped the frosty morning for the sunny afternoon on Saturday in the opening round of the Goulburn Valley League.
Swans, last year’s grand finalists, roared out of the blocks to seal a comfortable 28-point triumph at Mooroopna Recreation Reserve.
If not for some inaccuracy in front of the big sticks, the 9.16 (70) to 6.6 (42) result could have been much sweeter for the Swans.
Mason Reeves led from the front for the Swans with a best-on performance, while Manny Laulu and Mitch Grumley booted two goals each.
Kade James was the standout for the Cats along with ruckman Harry Brown.
News photographer Rechelle Zammit attended the thirds contest and captured plenty of thrills and spills.
