Budding tennis juniors were able to take to the courts at the weekend for round six Shepparton Junior Tennis Association action despite wet weather in the region.

In A-grade action, Sheppaton Lawn Blue came up against rival Shepparton Lawn Green in a contest that Blue won narrowly.

Blue walked away with bragging rights with a tense 5-39 to 3-34 triumph.

Kade Madigan was a standout for Blue and was involved in three rubber wins, while teammate Aydan Barrett secured a cracking 6-5 (7-3) win.

For Green, Aden Schreck was one of its top performers and won both of his rubbers.

However, the encounter was trumped by Kialla Park-Old Students’ thrilling one-game win over Shepparton Lawn Yellow.

Kialla Park-Old Students, Shepparton Lawn Blue and Mooroopna Lawn Blue sit on top of the A-grade ladder with 12 points following six rounds.
