Goulburn Murray Junior League sides have rounded the bend and are racing towards the promised land: finals footy.

Sides in the under-16 first division passed the halfway mark at the weekend, with Tatura taking out the second-versus-third clash against Shepp Notre-Bears Maroon by a goal.

The Bulldogs’ 10.10 (70) to 9.10 (64) result lifts them within four points of ladder leader Shepp Notre-Bears Gold, which dug out a 13.7 (85) to 10.7 (67) victory over Kyabram.

Shepparton United, one of four sides stuck in a mid-table logjam, also remains in the finals race.

The Demons scored a 33-point win over Echuca Murray Bombers, while the club’s sister outfit, Echuca Bombers, defeated Shepparton Swans 11.8 (74) to 7.8 (50).

News photographer Rechelle Zammit roamed the boundary to snap the players during the Swans-Echuca game.
