Gerard O’Sullivan steps down as Seymour president

Seymour Football Netball Club president Gerard O’Sullivan is stepping down.

There will be a change of guard at Seymour Football Netball Club for the 2025 season, with president Gerard O'Sullivan stepping down after a combined 10 years in the top job.

O’Sullivan leaves Kings Parks as the club’s joint longest-serving president, having served two separate terms, first from 2012 to 2016 and then from 2019 and 2024.

He was honoured at the club’s presentation night on Thursday, September 26.

On the football oval and netball court, highlights of O’Sullivan’s tenures included an unprecedented clean sweep of the Goulburn Valley League senior netball competitions in 2022 and the reserves’ football premiership in 2019.

Away from Kings Park is where O’Sullivan showed his qualities as a proud citizen of Seymour.

O’Sullivan drove the Lions’ incredible flood recovery effort in 2022, which saw teams of volunteers clean up the town.

This effort resulted in the football and netball club being named Mitchell Shire’s community club of the year in 2023.

A club spokesperson praised O’Sullivan’s commitment to the club and town.

“The amount of work Gerard has put into the club is difficult to fathom,” the spokesperson said.

“The Lions have been lucky to have his leadership and service over such a long period.”
