A superb century from Kyabram Fire Brigade’s Daniel Kent has put his side in the driver’s seat on day one of a two-day clash against Leitchville-Gunbower in Goulburn Murray Cricket McMahon Shield action.

It was a valiant, defensive effort from Kent, who bided his time in the middle as his top-order crumbled around him.

He would raise the bat in some style, eventually finishing on 106 off 184 balls after being lured into a wayward shot off the bowling of James Keath.

Support came from down the order with Flames skipper Brenton Campbell compiling a half-century, while Jake Gascoyne chipped in to put together a handy 41.

Kyabram would finish on 249 after 75.3 overs, leaving L-G with it all to do on the second day of proceedings this weekend.

Echuca South had a day to forget in its clash with Cooma; the Two Blues lead by 89 runs after skittling South for 35 on day one.

Samuel Langley (4-10) helped himself to the wickets, while Mitch Barrett (3-4) also had a hand in the Cooma bowling blitz.

Rochester takes a 30-run lead with three wickets in hand into day two of its clash with Bamawm Lockington United, after toppling the BLU bats for 74 in the first innings.

Moama has laid a challenge at Echuca’s feet, putting 211 on the scoreboard for Taylor Beard’s men to chase this weekend.
