Wet weather rained on Goulburn Murray Cricket’s round one parade with just one clash managing to get up on Saturday afternoon following downpours earlier in the week.

Out of four scheduled McMahon Shield clashes, Moama and Cooma’s was the only one-day game to get the nod, with the pitch at Moama Recreation Reserve deemed suitable for play.

It served up a ripping debut for A-grade debutant Rhys Drennan, who was key in Moama’s 10-wicket opening round drubbing of the Two Blues.

Cooma was bundled out for 56 in 33 overs as Drennan cleaned up the tail to collect 4-6 off his six overs, while Jordan McGregor marked his return to the club with 2-9.

Liam Scopelliti top-scored for Cooma with 20, the only player to crack double figures for the visiting side as Moama’s bowlers ran rampant.

McGregor, Moama skipper Anthony McMahon and Rishabh Kothari did the damage at the top of the order, while Drennan claimed four of the last five wickets.

Chasing 57 for victory, Moama was ruthless with the bat.

McMahon and Fraser Buchanan opened the innings and were clinical in the run chase to mow down the required total in the sixth over.

McMahon blasted 39 off 21 deliveries in an innings that included three sixes, while Buchanan’s 19 runs helped Moama claim a resounding 10-wicket victory.

Elsewhere in the league, grounds were washed out across the board as weather caused early-season havoc across a rain-soaked Victoria.

Clubs will need to wait until this week’s one-day games to get their season under way, while the women’s A-grade competition was also unable to get on the park.

Men and women’s B-grade cricket will commence this week.
