Goannas, Swans, Magpies win in Swanpool table tennis

The action has been competitive as ever in the Swanpool and District Table Tennis League.

Magpies 3 Eagles 2:

At the Lima School hall, the Magpies’ Kate and Pete Smith defeated the Eagles’ Eleanor Renkin and Shaun Murphy three rubbers to 2.

Murphy won both of his singles rubbers, but the Smiths won a singles each and the doubles to secure the win.

Goannas 5 Galahs 0:

At the Moorngag Hall the Goannas’ Keith and Joel Bickerton were too good for the Galahs’ Andrew and Laurence Donaldson, winning by five rubbers to nil.

Swans 3 Wombats 2:

At the Swanpool oval pavilion, the Swans’ Damian Young and Chris Seeley won a close match with the Wombats’ Andrew Marriott and Henry Thorne three rubbers to two.

Marriott won his two singles rubbers, but the Swans won a singles each as well as the doubles to seal the match.

Tigers 4 Turtles 1:

Two matches were played at the Tatong hall this week.

In the first, the Tigers’ Paul and Wesley Shea were too good for the Turtles’ David Beer and Mike Larkin, winning four rubbers to one.

Paul Shea won both his singles rubbers, and with Wesley, the doubles, while Beer and Wesley Shea won a single rubber each.

Emus 3 Bombers 2:

In the second Tatong match, the Emus’ Dheeraj and Rob Erskine won a very close match against the Bombers’ Melissa Mounsey and Colin Exton, three sets to two.

Eaton won his two singles rubbers, but Dheeraj and Erskine won a single rubber each plus the doubles for the victory.
