Some of the Goulburn Valley’s brightest netball minds and talents are currently in Darwin, representing Victoria at the 2023 National Netball Championships.

A pair of Shepparton starlets are vying to clinch the title in the 17-and-under squad, with Bears youngster McKenzie O’Dwyer lining up alongside Swans’ Harriet Gall.

Rochester gun Teal Hocking will look to wow selectors and spectators alike in the 19-and-under outfit, building on her step up to the senior ranks with City West Falcons in the Victorian Netball League during summer.

Meanwhile, two Goulburn Valley mentors will also play a massive role at the tournament, charged with steering their state towards success at the biggest age-grade event on the calendar.

Shepparton A-grade mentor Tracey Brereton is guiding the 17-and-under squad as head coach, while another of the Bears’ brainstrust, Jacinta Todd, is serving as assistant coach of the 19-and-under team.

The tournament kicked off on Tuesday, with Brereton’s charges starting with games against Western Australia and Queensland, while Todd’s side faced Northern Territory and South Australia.
