Echuca-Moama River Rats were back in Goulburn Valley Hockey Association action at the weekend but couldn’t emulate the fortunes of their last encounter with opponents SYC.

Coming off a strong win against Mooroopna, the River Rats fell 3-1 to SYC at Shepparton Hockey Complex, with Tom Kerr the sole striker for the visitors.

Kerr garnered the most team votes in a strong display, with Regan More and Lucas Kell also registering positive performances.

The result sees the final home-and-away standings all but locked in, with SYC confirming its spot in second place and Echuca Moama set in third with two rounds to play.

In the other round 10 result, Strikers put Mooroopna to the sword in an 11-0 demolition, with James McBain netting six.

The River Rats welcome the all-conquering Strikers at Echuca College in round 11. The Strikers have undoubtedly been the form side of the competition, unbeaten so far this season with a 63-goal differential.

In the other Echuca Moama fixture at the weekend, the under-14 side enjoyed a 2-0 victory over SYC, with Will Kerr scoring a brace for the Rats in their second win of the season.
