Second-placed Shepparton Youth Club added to its buffer on the weekend, producing an impressive 3-1 win against third-placed Echuca-Moama.

Going into the Goulburn Valley Hockey Association A-grade men’s clash as favourites, the home side did enough to get the win.

Daniel Trevaskis and Seth Watson scored alongside Matthew Irwin on the day, with Irwin named best-on-ground for the winning team.

In the weekend’s other A-grade men’s clash, the table-topping Strikers downed Mooroopna, 11-0.

A six-goal haul to James McBain headlined the result, with the Strikers the team to beat this season.

Just two rounds remain of the regular season, with the ladder positions all but locked in.

The Strikers sit first on 28 points, SYC is second on 19, Echuca-Moama is third on nine and Mooroopna sits in fourth on three.

News photographer Rechelle Zammit headed to the Shepparton Hockey Complex on Saturday afternoon to capture all the action.
