Echuca has produced a hard-fought victory against Kyabram in round three Goulburn Valley League netball action, ensuring the Murray Bombers continue their perfect start to 2022.

With a number of A-grade players missing from last weekend’s win against Euroa, coach Stephanie Vick said the depth in her squad came to the fore on Saturday.

“We’ve had a bit of a different run-in over the past few weeks with our fair share of illness,” she said.

“We had a few girls unavailable this week because they’re unwell.

“It gave us a chance to give opportunities to other players who are very talented.

“I was very impressed with how they stepped up and performed on Saturday.

“Georgie Eishold stepped up from B-grade and had a great game for us.”

Meanwhile, Rochester ensured Bridgette Holt’s 150th game for the Tigers was a winning one, defeating Tatura 44-30 to secure its first win of the season.

Madison Egglestone was best-on-court, while Holt saluted in her 150th with a superb performance.

Shepparton Bears collected their first points of the 2022 season with a solid win over Shepparton Swans at Deakin Reserve.

Kaylia Stanton was the standout for the Bears up front, while young guns Caitlyn Tuohey and Lili Murphy were among the other key contributors.

Swans’ debutante Emelia Mercuri enjoyed a brilliant first game to be among the side’s best players.

In the final Saturday match-up, Benalla made it two wins from two, accounting for Mansfield on the Eagles’ home court 59-25.

New recruit Sally Washfold stepped up for the visitors to spearhead the scoring, while Chloe Hill was superb in the Saints’ defence.

In Sunday afternoon action, Euroa shocked arch-rival Seymour 43-38, handing the premiership fancy its first loss of the season.

Kellie Davidson, Karly Wappett and Tylah Marchbank all combined to see the Magpies across the line.
