Echuca does not have a game this weekend as the GVL enters the second half of a split round.
Digging into the individual player statistics in the Murray Bombers’ latest fixture, a 112-point thrashing of Shepparton United, the comprehensive nature of the champions performance becomes clear.
In ranking points, the catch-all metric for on-field impact, Echuca had the top eight point-getters of the match and 10 of the 12 players to score 100 points or more on the day were wearing green.
Echuca’s eclectic eight featured a forward, Liam Tenace, a midfielder, Jack McHale, and a defender, Daniel Willis.
It also included all three starting on-ballers, Kane Morris, Ben Reid and Jackson Stewart, and a pair of interchange players, Baxter Slater and Tighe O’Brien, showcasing the Murray Bombers’ dominance in all areas of the park.
While each player’s game resulted in a big ranking point total, they each added something different to the side.
McHale led the game in disposals with 34, including 19 contested possessions, and he also earned a mammoth 12 clearances for his side.
Willis got the ball inside 50 on nine occasions while also recording four rebound 50s.
Slater had a game-best 15 score involvements, while O’Brien’s 20 disposals were 100 per cent effective.
Reid regained the ball regularly with eight intercept possessions, while also putting in extra effort in the form of a game-high nine one-percenters.
Tenace was effective in the air with 27 hit-outs, and Stewart got things done in multiple ways, logging five intercept possessions, 25 disposals, four clearances and three goals.
Regarding the scoring load, the number one ranking points earner for the match was Morris, whose 10 goals made up one of the more dominant scoring performances of the year by any player.
Echuca continues to outclass its opponents in all aspects of the game as the Murray Bombers look ahead to the final six rounds, beginning with Seymour on July 13.
