Echuca put rivals Rochester to the sword on Saturday, diminishing the memory of its only loss this year with a 74-point thrashing in the return fixture.

The recent return of Sam Reid, who has been battling injury throughout the season, proved an impactful one against the Tigers, and brother Ben was no slouch for the Murray Bombers either.

The Reid brothers were the number one and number three ranking points earners in the game, with Echuca possessing all six of the top points-getters in the game.

Sam had a huge day out, with the ball finding him in all parts of the ground. The Echuca on-baller had a massive 44 disposals, with 22 of his possessions contested.

While Reid only disposed of the ball at a 59 per cent efficiency, his sheer number of touches allowed Echuca to push the ball out of trouble or into dangerous attacking areas.

He was influential around the contest with 15 clearances, as well around both 50s, logging seven inside 50s and four rebound 50s.

Sam made nine tackles in the contest as grabbing three intercept possessions, and was involved in a team-high seven Murray Bombers goals and 11 overall scores.

Despite a glut of possession, Sam only turned the ball over three times over the course of the game, his combined output leading to a huge 203 ranking point haul.

Brother Ben also impressed against Rochy. The Echuca halfback had 23 disposals of his own, distributing the ball at a 78 per cent efficiency.

Despite starting in a defensively slanted role, Ben contributed well going forward, getting the ball inside 50 on five occasions, and popping up with two goals for the Murray Bombers.

Ben was active without the ball, successfully disrupting Rochester’s forward raids.

He snatched eight intercept possessions, performed six pressure acts and broke up three Tigers’ marking opportunities with spoils.

Ben also got involved in nine Echuca scores, his overall impact accumulating 141 ranking points for the premiers.
