A trio of Sunday games greeted Goulburn Valley League fans in round eight, with six sides braving the wintery conditions to produce some top quality wet weather football.

Shepparton Swans broke a seven-game losing streak, delivering Tatura a 15.13 (109) to 5.2 (32) shellacking at a rain-soaked Princess Park.

Heading into the clash as firm underdogs against an inconsistent Tatura, the Swans quickly flipped on the Bulldogs, producing a masterpiece in wet weather footy.

Dominating the inside 50 count, the home side was first to the ball for much of the day, forcing turnovers and keeping the Bulldogs from scoring in the final term.

A damning loss for Paul Kirby and his Tatura side, the Bulldogs now stay chained to 11th spot on the ladder with a dismal 1-7 record.

Echuca survived an early Rochester scare at Victoria Park on Sunday to stay atop the ladder, overcoming the Tigers 12.9 (81) to 5.6 (36).

The Tigers were on top early, hanging on to a 13-point lead midway through the second quarter.

But the Murray Bombers would quickly seize control with a few quick goals before the half, heading into the main break 5.4 (34) to 4.5 (29).

A three-goal-to-one third term pushed the margin further from the Tigers’ reach, before four unanswered goals in the last had the Murray Bombers cruise to a 45-point win.

A dominant second half has had Kyabram charge to an 11.8 (74) to 5.4 (34) win over Shepparton United at Deakin Reserve.

Greeted by gloomy conditions, wet weather footy was the order of the day, as the young Demons quickly turned the contest into a scrap.

Going with the Bombers stride for stride through an intriguing first half, it appeared an upset was brewing at half-time as United trailed by two points.

But as all champion sides do, Kyabram hit back hard in the second half, keeping the Demons goalless while adding six unanswered goals to run away a 40 point winner.
