Euroa produced another big Goulburn Valley League win on Saturday afternoon, downing a gallant Shepparton Swans at Memorial Oval.
Returning to action after a week off, the Magpies cruised to a 21.10 (136) to 11.2 (68) victory.
The Swans made it tricky for Euroa early, with the visitors just 13 points down at the first break.
However, after a tight first quarter, the Magpies clicked into gear, building a solid lead and running away with the game.
Euroa coach Scott Rowan said his side started off the game “a bit scratchy” after a week off.
“We addressed some things at half-time and I thought the second half was a lot better,” Rowan said.
“Shepparton were a very good coached and quick side, so they certainly took the contest up to us for the day which was pleasing.”
Jack Hellier was named best on ground for the Magpies, while Jett Trotter kicked six goals.
The duo was joined on the best players list by Andrew Bell, Harrison Jarvie and Max Gleeson with Rowan acknowledging Hellier’s work both on and off the ball.
“We as a coaching panel sort of see what he does off the ball where as a lot of people might not,” Rowan said.
“We’re thrilled with how he’s going and he’s coming into some really good form at the right end of the season for us.”
For the Swans, B.J. Squire stood out, while Kurtis Dixon, Isaiah Jones, Will Dwyer and Tyreece Collison also performed well.
While the result contained plenty of positives for the visitors, the side was unable to match its shock round 15 win against Seymour, however it once again showed it can match it with the best in patches.
