The dust has settled on the 2024 Goulburn Valley League season.

Premierships were won and lost, tears — of triumph and despair — were shed, and the hard work and dedication it takes to be involved on the last day of the season was celebrated after Sunday’s efforts at Deakin Reserve.

More than 6000 people witnessed it all unfold, with an official gate of 5918 — excluding volunteers, league guests and those flashing media passes on the way in.

This equated to $60,289 in gate takings for the day.

“The 2024 GOTAFE Goulburn Valley League finals series has been a resounding success with premiers crowned at (Sunday’s) grand finals,” GVL board chair Jacqui Hudgson said.

“With eight different clubs competing in the grand finals, it was fantastic to see spectators out in force supporting their teams.”

The numbers for the overall finals campaign are also in.

“The overall atmosphere throughout the day, and throughout the finals series was wonderful to see,” Hudgson said.

“16,908 people attended the finals series and that’s not including our wonderful volunteers without whom we could not have run a finals series as successfully as we have.

“We thank everyone involved, we congratulate all our premiers and we now commence planning for season 2025.”

The 2024 numbers for both attendance and gate takings were on a par with 2023.
