A cracking top-four contest awaits Goulburn Valley League A-grade followers this weekend at Kings Park.

Seymour, fresh off an astounding 20-goal blitz over Mooroopna, is at home to undefeated Echuca.

The Lions, led by VNL talent Casey Adamson and defender Sarah Szczykulski, exploded with 29 goals to 13 in a powerful second half.

The Murray Bombers enter this clash with a truckload of momentum, while the hosts have a swag of confidence following their win over a fellow premiership contender.

But the Murray Bombers will need to negate Seymour without playing coach Steph Vick.

The multiple Wellman Medal winner is unavailable for this weekend’s clash.

Vick revealed that teammate and goal-attack star Belinda Lees would fill-in as coach.

“We’re in safe hands with Belinda stepping up to coach this week,” she said.

“We’re a little bit depleted but we’re trying to do our best to prepare for this week. I’ve got a lot of faith in the team and that they will put in a good performance and hopefully come away with a win.”

Seymour’s coach Ellie O’Sullivan, speaking after last week’s win over Mooroopna, said her side would be up for the test against Echuca.

“You come off a win and you do ride the wave which is really nice,” O’Sullivan said.

“We know Echuca will be another team we’ll need to compete hard against and we know they will have a lot of experience and a few big names running around.

“They will be a very well-drilled side, so we will just be hoping to continue the momentum we created last weekend and carry it into this weekend.”

Echuca comes into this contest after a dominant win over a young Mansfield outfit.

The Murray Bombers cruised to a whopping 75-17 triumph.

Defender Claire Byrne was brilliant for Vick’s side, along with midcourter Greta Pearson.

“Claire is one of our younger players and she’s one who is getting stronger and stronger each week,” Vick said.

“She’s been doing a phenomenal job for us winning the ball and giving us drive out of defence.”

With an eye on her side’s upcoming opponent, Vick expected Seymour to bring the heat early.

“Seymour is another one of those teams that are quite relentless and bring the pressure right from the start,” she said.

“They are quite agile and their defence is very strong.

“It’s just a matter of us focusing on our game and what we can control.”
