It is shaping up to be another massive weekend of Goulburn Valley League football, with an action-packed round four set to get under way.
In what is sure to be one of the games of the round, Seymour will play host to Mooroopna on Saturday, from 2.35pm at Kings Park.
The Lions have been struck by injuries early this season and coach Ben Davey said a win was much-needed after two losses in a row.
“It’s a real challenge ahead of us, I’ve watched a bit of their games and they’re playing well,” Davey said.
“They came to Seymour and beat us last year so we know they’ll be up for the fight.”
Seymour is hoping to welcome four or five players back into the side, with Rory Scopel, Dylan Cook and Nathan Beattie among those with a chance to return.
It is sure to be an interesting contest and with Mooroopna in fine form, it could go either way.
In Benalla, the Saints will welcome a hungry Kyabram to the showgrounds at 2pm in what is shaping up to be an entertaining contest.
Bombers coach Paul Newman said his side would be looking to minimise the long lapses it has suffered in previous weeks.
“I reckon it will be a good game,” Newman said.
“You look at their top six or eight players and they’re as good as any six or eight going around the competition.
“It will be a really good challenge for us, they always are over there.”
The Bombers will be without Kayne Pettifer on the weekend, with the forward suffering an injured hamstring, while Brad Edwards and Mitch Gugliotti may miss too.
Rochester will be looking to continue its strong start to the year when it travels to Deakin Reserve to take on Shepparton United at 2.35pm.
Tigers coach Steven Stroobants said he expected United to be up and about for the contest.
“We expect them to come out really firing early and we’ve just got to weather that, play to our strengths and then hopefully the game will open up in our favour,” Stroobants said.
Captain Nathan Marrone and Jacob Atley will be back in the Tigers’ colours for the game, while United coach Paul Serra said his young side would have to be at its best to take home the points.
Serra was hoping to welcome Shane Sali back into the team, as well as Robbie Mifka, while Mitch Booth is out with a hamstring injury.
The Shepparton Swans will be missing experienced midfielders BJ Squire and Quade Johnstone for their 2.35pm clash against Euroa at Princess Park.
Will Browne will be coming back in for the Swans, with the game against an inconsistent Euroa side set to go either way.
In Tatura, the bruised and battered Bulldogs will be looking to get back on the winner’s list when they play Shepparton at 2.35pm.
The Bears are coming off two wins in a row and are sure to be a tricky challenge for the injury-hit Bulldogs.
Meanwhile, Echuca will battle Mansfield in a 2pm clash at Victoria Park in what will no doubt be a fiery contest.
