With finals no longer an option, Tatura will be looking to finish its Cricket Shepparton Haisman Shield season strong this weekend.
Tatura will play host to Old Students on Saturday in a match that could define each of their seasons.
Both currently sit on three wins, two draws and seven losses with this weekend’s clash deciding who will finish above the other.
The home side will be raring to go, coming off a dominant 93-run victory over Shepparton United, while Old Students suffered a disappointing 52-run loss to Mooroopna.
One person that will be raring to go is Tatura coach Daniel Coombs who will be fresh off a score of 69 against Shepparton United.
Coombs said his side would be looking to end the season on a high.
“It was great to get a confidence boost last weekend,” Coombs said.
“We’re looking to finish the season on a high, pushing for seventh or eighth spot.
"It has been a positive year for the club and a good stepping stone.“
He said the past two games not only allowed for a positive end to the season, but a chance to blood some young guns like Kade Walker who played last week.
With a bit of rain forecast, Coombs was wary that a soggy pitch will make it easier for the bowlers.
“It should be a good game, we’re similar sides with a balance of experience and younger guys,’’ he said.
“It will be a tight contest.”
Tatura will play host to Old Students on Saturday at 12.30pm at Frank Howley Oval.
