All Australians are invited to have their say on the development of the nation’s first co-designed National Sport Participation Strategy through an online survey.
The strategy aims to transform how sport participation is connected, delivered and supported in Australia, and is being facilitated by the Australian Sports Commission in partnership with sector stakeholders.
Creating Chances head of operations Assmaah Helal is part of the 17-member Project Steering Group, which is guiding the development of the strategy. Ms Helal has been advocating for social change and youth development initiatives in Australia and the Asia-Pacific since 2009 and is encouraging as many people as possible to complete the survey.
She said it was critical that they heard from a wide range of voices in the sporting industry.
“We want to know what you think about participating in sport, what motivates you and any barriers you might face to getting involved in sport,” she said.
ASC chief executive and PSG member Kieren Perkins said participating in sport had many benefits.
“We know Australians value sport, and by taking part in the short survey you will be contributing to a collective effort to create a more active and healthy Australia through sport,” he said.
“Sport needs to be more open and inclusive, and we need to ensure that we are providing more opportunities for all Australians to be involved in sport in whatever role they choose.”
The survey takes about 10 minutes to complete and closes at 5pm on Friday, June 16. The survey can be accessed at https://sportaus.syd1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_2926AswS68Hgnhs
