Growing every year, the club is proof that even small communities can build strong and competitive teams within regional competitions.

“We are all so proud of how well the club is going,” club secretary Carley Alchin said.

“It was amazing to see the section 3A team come home with the trophy.”

Like many clubs, the Covid years had an impact on membership numbers but the club is celebrating the dedication of those who have worked tirelessly to help rebuild.

“We now have full teams for the autumn night comp and the numbers have boosted overall,” Ms Alchin said.

The club’s Best Club Member award was received by Bronwyn McCormack for her tireless commitment to the junior tennis program.

“Particularly our juniors which is largely thanks to the amazing efforts of Bronwyn McCormack who took real ownership of nurturing and growing the junior programs.”

As a result of her efforts, Ms McCormack received the club’s Best Club member award for 2024 with a specific emphasis on her putting together and coaching a new section 6 junior pennant team.

“Clubs like ours can’t survive long term without juniors so we are incredibly lucky and grateful to have Bronwyn championing the younger members of the club,” Ms Alchin said.

Club Championships were held over three full days with competitors taking to the courts across all divisions.

“We are really excited for the future of the Howlong Tennis Club,” Ms Alchin said.

“So much progress, so many new members, strong pennant teams, a blossoming junior program and now, also, we have engaged a professional coach who is teaching groups of kids and adults on Thursday’s right here on our home courts.
