Drivers have entered from right around Australia for this weekend’s Speedway Sedans Australian Junior Sedan national title, with almost 80 competitors set to arrive for competition this Saturday and Sunday at Victoria’s home of junior sedan racing, Alexandra Speedway.

Alexandra has long been considered one of the more prolific developers of talented junior racers and the home club has plenty of eager member drivers keen to perform in front of friends and family.

The most recent national title was held more than two years ago, back in January 2020.

The entry list for this weekend’s event includes the South Australian, Queensland, Tasmania and West Australian champions.

Alexandra members with some winning results this season in the top class of juniors, the top stars, include Dylan Barrow, Breanna Simpson, James Oliver, Jayden Bryant and Linken Paterson. These drivers are considered a very good chance of a top-five finish on Sunday night as the title race greets the chequered flag.

Thirteen Queenslanders, 10 Tasmanians and eight West Australians are among the line-up, with more than 35 Victorian drivers.

Ranging from age 10 to 17, those drivers with more than a couple years’ experience tend to rise to the top at the end of the feature event, this year held on a 570-metre-long track at its inside measuring point.

On Saturday night a re-scheduled Victorian Modified Sedan series round will support and entertain and on Saturday night, street stocks will be the supporting class.

The speedway is at the end of Gordon St, Alexandra, and action starts from 4pm Saturday. Gates will open to the public from noon.

The cost for a weekend ticket is $150 for a family of two adults and three children between the ages of 10 and 16, $60 for adults and $30 for children aged 10 to 16 and aged and disabled pensioners. Children under 10 years of age enter for free.
