A hole-in-one is something most golfers can only dream of, but for Tatura’s Joshua McRae the dream became a reality in June.

McRae struck the hole-in-one on Saturday, June 18 at Tatura’s Hill Top Golf Course, etching his name in the history books for his tremendous feat.

“I’ve told this story a million times,” McRae said.

“Tatura golf course, Saturday morning, I’m having an absolute stinker.

“I rolled up to the ninth hole feeling a little bit sad and was thinking ‘what is going on here’.”

McRae explained that after a tricky morning on the course he did things a little bit differently on the ninth.

He said he teed the ball a bit higher than usual, with the shot looking pretty good off the nine iron.

“It had a nice fly,” he said.

“It cruised along, popped down and landed probably a foot-and-a-half to the left of the hole.

“Then it spun sideways into the hole and the celebrations began.”

McRae said he “could not believe” the hit, with plenty of running around and carrying on following the strike.

“Actually first I dropped to my knees, I couldn't believe it,” he said.

“Dropped to my knees, tweaked my shoulder so did a bit of an injury there and yeah, it was just a bit of a celebration.

“I followed it up with a birdie on the 10th believe it or not.

“Then walking up to the 12th hole I had a mate run me out some beers so I drank a few beers while I finished off the rest of the round and I ended up having my lowest score.

“And then of course I went to the clubhouse and had a few beers.”
