Not many people had a better Saturday morning than Cobram’s Jack Iddles.

The young talent shone in the Murray Football League under-14 decider at the Moama Recreation Reserve, scoring all three of the Tigers’ goals on the way to a three-point victory over Moama.

“It’s one of the best feelings out there,” Iddles said after being crowned best-on-ground in the grand final.

“I can’t think of anything better, thank you to all the people that have helped along the way and the coaches that stepped up.”

Iddles could not believe the season his side had in 2022, with the defender moving forward in the big dance to help the team across the line.

“If you had have told me at the start of the year that we’d be here right now I probably would’ve laughed at you,” he said.

“It’s good determination and everything from the boys, you’ve got to give it to them.

“Whilst we lost during the year we came back at training on the Tuesday and did an extra 45 minutes every night and it’s just paid off.

“To get over (the line) by three points is grouse.”

A close game all day, the youngster said the result was the best feeling he’d had on a football field.

“I want to get back together as a team in the under-17s and bring another one home next year,” he said.

Just one cog in the Cobram under-14 wheel, Iddles was part of a premiership team full of young talent and it is clear the future is bright for the Tigers.
