‘It’s really good to win with my friends’: Shepparton Swans’ Jaylah Meda reflects on remarkable year
A best-on-court performance capped off a remarkable year for Shepparton Swans goaler Jaylah Meda.
The talented attacker played a key role in helping her side get over the line in Sunday’s Goulburn Valley League 15-and-under decider, shooting well from inside the attacking ring.
A standout on the day, Meda said it was the support of her teammates that helped her do her thing, with the 15-year-old getting in front in the ring to win the ball.
“We had a good season,” Meda said.
“It’s really good to win with my friends, it’s a good experience.
“Thank you to Courtney (Simpson), Sue (Egan) and Amy (Woodward), Mum and Dad and all my teammates.”
Meda said it had been a season of improvement for the Swans’ side, and with a step up to 17-and-under next year, the future star was preparing for a new challenge.
“I have improved this year and we have as a team as well,” she said.
“It’s going to be a big step up next year.”
Meda is one of a number of talented Swans coming through the ranks and her sharp shooting and ability to perform under pressure will certainly make her one to watch in years to come.
