Shepparton premiership player Jordon Butts has signed on the dotted line again at AFL club Adelaide.

The Bears product put pen to paper on a three-year contract extension with the Crows on Friday.

Butts, 23, who debuted with the club in 2020, will be part of the fold at Adelaide until at least the end of 2026 following the extension.

The gun key-defender had his hands full on Thursday night in his side’s AFL Gather Round opener against Carlton’s Harry McKay and Charlie Curnow, but was part of a defensive unit which kept the Blues to nine goals in a big Adelaide win.

“The club gave me an opportunity in the draft and hopefully I’m able to repay that faith in me,” Butts told afc.com.au.

“I have really enjoyed my time here, a lot of my teammates are also my close friends and each year it feels like we are building towards something special, so it’s great to be part of that.”

Adelaide general manager of list management and strategy Justin Reid said Butts was an important part of the team’s future.

“Jordon’s development from being selected in the 2018 rookie draft to now holding down a key defensive position in our team has been very pleasing,” Reid said.

“He’s become a very reliable, no-fuss defender who we know will get the job done each week and we are thrilled that he’s recommitted to the club for at least the next three seasons.”
