THE ECHUCA MOAMA BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION WILL BE IN THE SPOTLIGHT IN SEPTEMBER.

A week after the Junior Country Jamboree brings the very best under-12 players to the border, juniors of all age divisions will be able to get involved in the action as the EMBA hosts its annual basketball tournament.

The event features more than 100 teams that flock to Echuca for a three-day basketball festival from September 27 to 29.

The sheer volume of players and teams, around 1000 in total, has in the past necessitated the event to spill over across the region, as far as Kyabram and Rochester in some cases.

While competing teams may come from across Victoria and as far as parts of NSW, local competitors also form a key part of the field.

Last year saw 20 EMBA teams compete, the most ever, join the tournament across the age-grades, from under-12s up to under-18s.

“We always have teams wanting to come back,” EMBA president Lisa Baker said.

“It’s a ripper weekend … It will be a packed stadium.”

The Echuca Moama Basketball Association Annual Tournament will be held from September 27 to 29 at the Echuca Basketball Stadium. For more information on the annual tournament email info@echucabasketball.com.au
