Rochester Lawn Tennis Club will be hosting their junior tennis competition this Sunday, and young tennis aces are invited to participate.

Club president Karen Taylor is looking forward to the event.

“The tournament provides an opportunity to develop the junior kids tennis skills, play with their friends and compete in a different format to their usual Saturday competition,” Mrs Taylor said.

Young players Ruby and Keeley, both aged 12, and Cadence, 13, all said they enjoyed the competition generated by past junior tournaments in Rochy.

“It was fun because I could hang out with my friends and play my favourite sport,” Ruby said.

“I loved the sausages; it was a good competition,” Keeley said.

“The prizes were good, and the tennis was good too,” Cadence said.

The event also generates strong support from local businesses.

“Luke Ryan Real Estate has supported us on several occasions and again supports this tournament,” Mrs Taylor said.

“We are very grateful for this support. It allows us to buy some great prizes for our participants.”

The event usually hosts 50-60 players with fantastic prizes for winners and runners-up.

The event is on Sunday, November 5 and starts from 9am.

It is played in a round-robin format.

The cost of entry per player is $10.

Sets are played to six games and usually last for 15-20 minutes, and they would play up to six sets over the day.

Entries can be emailed to rochesterltc@gmail.com or call Karen Taylor on 0448 557 139.
