Katamatite takes it up to Deni

Round eight of the Murray Valley Cricket Association saw Katamatite, Cobram and Barooga all emerge victorious.

At Barooga Recreational Reserve, Katamatite thumped Deniliquin, which failed to chase down its opponents, losing 10-124 to 8-165.

Katamatite’s Andrew Erickson was his side’s best batter, making 51 runs not out, while teammate Tyler Green made 36 runs before falling to the bowling of Prem Kumar Reddy Muppidi.

Denilquin bowlers Boddie Arthur, Muppidi and Manraj Virdi, all took two wickets each.

Denilquin’s best batter was Arthur, who made 34 runs before falling to the combined skill of Oliver Mynard and Erickson, acting as fielder and bowler, respectively.

Meanwhile, Jonathan Tubb made 30 runs for Deniliquin before falling to Erickson.

Erickson proved to be Katamatite’s best bowler, taking three wickets.

Further into NSW, Finley fell on its own home turf to Barooga with a final score of 10-92 to 5-251.

Barooga outran the home team, with Benjamin Beaumont making the best amount of runs for his team, an impressive 71 runs, before falling to bowler Archibald Mason.

Top order batter Justin Maley was the second-best for Barooga, making 38 runs before falling to Finley’s fielder Harrison King and bowler Cougar McGrath.

Barooga’s Cameron Nye scored 27 runs before falling to fielder Jonathon Cattell and bowler Harrison King.

William Sharp and Mitchell Richmann took three wickets each for Barooga.

Finley’s best bowler was Mason, who took two wickets, while Jonty King was the homeside’s best batter with 19 runs before falling to Richmann.

It was clear that the NSW teams had it second best to the Victorian teams, with Berrigan falling to Cobram.

Berrigan failed to chase down Cobram, finishing the game with 10-56 against Cobram’s 9-186.

Cobram top-order batter Shaun Downie made an impressive 94 runs, far surpassing his other teammates.

Meanwhile, Cobram’s Jimmy Daniel and Lachlan Adams each took four wickets each.

Berrigan’s Jacob Bartlett made a respectable 40 runs, making him his side’s top batter.

Jacob Bartlett and Jordan Swann each took two wickets, making them the home side’s best bowlers.

As of round eight, Nathalia remains on top of the ladder with an unbeaten run, followed by Barooga, which has only one loss this season.

Cobram and Katamatite have five wins each and sit third and fourth, respectively.
