It was a weekend with a massive upset in the PDFL, as one local team finished on a high and another left the field after a comprehensive drubbing.
In a result few saw coming, Katamatite narrowly beat reigning champions Waaia 81-78.
The start of the game didn’t look promising for Katamatite as Waaia took a 36-11 lead heading into the first break.
The second quarter saw the gap narrow somewhat with Waaia going into half-time 45 points to Katamatite’s 33.
Despite the fight back, it looked like Katamatite was headed for defeat, trailing Waaia by 26 points heading into the last quarter.
However, it isn’t over until it's over, and Katamatie’s persistence in the final quarter saw them take the lead.
Katamatite’s Dylan Callard sealed the deal for his side, scoring the points which saw his team get the win through by the skin of its teeth.
If it was ecstasy for Katamatite, it was an utter nightmare for Yarroweyah as they played NSW rivals Deniliquin.
The Deniliquin side destroyed their rivals 231 to 38.
In other Picola league football results, Strathmerton beat Picola United 76-55, and Tungamah defeated Tocumwal 143-75.
After round four, Strathmerton sits third on the ladder, Katamatite sits seventh and Yarroweyah sits last.
