It's always interesting when teams from neighbouring states face each other.

You have both club pride and state pride on the table and no-one wants to come out second best.

In the round-eight Picola and District football match between Katamatite and Tocumwal, the result was soon beyond doubt.

The Tigers were far too strong for their NSW rivals, winning 22.19.151 to 7.3.45.

Playing in front of a supportive home crowd, Katamatite started well, finishing the first quarter seven points ahead of Tocumwal, 4.7.31 to 4.0.24.

In the second quarter, Katamatite asserted its authority, going into the main break with a comfortable lead, 9.10.64 to 5.1.31.

A nine-goal third term by the Tigers, to Tocumwal’s single point, extended the margin to 89 points with one quarter to play.

The fourth quarter saw Tocumwal register two majors, but the horse had well and truly bolted.

Tocumwal’s leading goalkicker was Flynn Tonks with three goals, while Katamatite’s Mitchell Coleman ended with 10 goals to his name.

Tocumwal’s best players were Xavier Walker, Harry Barker, Adam Kent, Dillon Kirchen and Flynn Tonks.

Katamatite’s best players were Mitchell Coleman, Jayson Bigg, Toby Kopa, Nicholas Clurey, Mitch Ward and James Beilby.

Katamatite sits third on the ladder while Tocumwal is 12th.
