In a gripping contest between two equally-matched third-placed teams, the battle between the Lakers and the Roadrunners promised a riveting showdown.

Hosted at Nagambie Recreation Reserve, the face-off did not disappoint, as both teams vied to outplay the other and secure the second spot on the leaderboard.

In a twist reminiscent of the Looney Tunes cartoons, the Roadrunners outsmarted the Lakers' manoeuvrers, leaving them trailing in the wake of a nine-goal victory, 60 to 51.

The loss left Katie Sullivan's team four points behind Tallygaroopna and Girgarre in the fight for second place.

The Kangaroos squared off against an Avenel team that, despite consistently solid performances, had little to show for their efforts.

The narrative persisted on Saturday afternoon at Girgarre Recreation Reserve, as the home team sprang into action and promptly extinguished any hope of an upset.

Meanwhile, Shepparton East and Dookie maintained their season-long winning streaks against Merrigum and Longwood, respectively.

This sets the stage for one of the most eagerly awaited matches in KDL Netball history, as the two undefeated teams will face off at Central Park Recreation Reserve this coming Saturday.

With neither side willing to forfeit their "unbeatable" status, an intense game is anticipated. Elsewhere, if you can divert your attention from the action in Shepparton, a duel for the second spot is set to unfold at Tallygaroopna Recreation Reserve, where the Roadrunners host the Kangaroos.

Meanwhile, Nagambie will be keen to regain their winning streak against local rivals Longwood, while Avenel is set to challenge Lancaster on their home turf.
