Dookie United co-coach Georgie O’Connor said her side heads into this weekend’s semi-final contest in good spirits despite the narrow loss last weekend.

The Thunder suffered a tense five-goal loss to minor premier Shepparton East in the qualifying final after they brought the heat to one of the Kyabram District League A-grade premiership fancies.

“It was a bit disappointing to not come away with the win last week, but we go into this clash in good spirits,” O’Connor said.

“We can’t wait to get out there and hopefully be on the end of the right result.”

O’Connor said she and co-coach Maddison Owen learnt plenty from the hit-out against the Eagles.

“It was close all the way through, but in the end we just didn’t run out the match,” she said.

“Looking back at it we might make some different changes and if we do get the chance to come up with them again we’ll be better for it.”

Dookie United heads to Avenel Recreation Reserve for its important semi-final hit-out against Violet Town.

In the one time the two outfits squared off, Dookie United walked away with a gritty 53-46 triumph.

The Towners enter the do-or-die clash fresh from a week off and a stellar 12-goal win over Murchison-Toolamba.

O’Connor said the Thunder would give plenty of respect to the Towners.

“We’re not going in expecting to win that’s for sure,” she said.

“Finals is a different game and we know we can’t be complacent.”

Tallygaroopna is out to bounce back from its loss to Nagambie last weekend.

Merrigum will line up against the powerhouse outfit in the second semi-final on Sunday at Central Park Recreation Reserve.
