Tallygaroopna will be hoping there will be one less unbeaten team in the Kyabram District League A-grade competition come Sunday morning.
The Redlegs are up against top-of-the-table outfit Nagambie in what is shaping up to be a crucial round 11 contest.
Nagambie sits atop the ladder with a perfect and unblemished 10-0 record, while Tallygaroopna, many pundits’ premiership favourites, sit in third spot with a 9-0-1 record.
Although the Lakers have been sublime whenever they have been challenged this season, this home clash shapes up to be their first real test this season.
“We have had a good run up to this point but I know everyone is looking forward to coming up against Tally,” Nagambie playing coach Katie Sullivan said.
“It’s generally always a close match whenever we do come up against each other and it looks like we have been posting similar scores this season so we’re expecting another tight match.
“We’re looking forward to getting a gauge of where we sit and where we might need to improve.”
Sullivan highlighted the on-court battle between superstar goaler Sharni Lloyd and Tally talent Bree Giles as one to watch out for.
Sullivan’s Tallygaroopna counterpart Fiona Down said her side would look to focus on its own game this weekend.
“It’s always a challenge against them no matter where they sit on the ladder. No doubt this weekend will be the same,” Down said.
“But we know that we can’t focus too heavily on them and we need to focus on what we can control.
“It’s going to be important that we treasure and look after the ball and then capitalise on turnovers at the other end.”
Around the courts, Rushworth will have a chance to notch up its second win of the season.
The Tigers hit the road to take on Undera in a bid to leap-frog Girgarre on the ladder.
Girgarre also travels away from home and takes on Violet Town.
The Towners are still hunting a spot in the top four.
Meanwhile, Merrigum will be hopeful it can get the job done at home against Avenel and Stanhope will fancy its chances against Longwood.
Murchison-Toolamba faces a stern test when it welcomes Shepparton East, while Dookie United should breeze past Lancaster.
