Kyvalley Red (8-68) has claimed an emphatic victory over Kyvalley Black (2-45) in Kyabram District Tennis Association’s grand final.

However, Kyvalley Red was on the back foot early as Xan Booth and Matt Mann were downed by Michael Maskell and Riley Wakenshaw 2-4.

Jack Forde got Red back on track in the first singles match of the day, defeating association senior best-and-fairest Ryan Cooper 6-4.

Booth got his revenge in his singles match-up against Wakenshaw, putting the latter to the sword in a dominant 6-1 display.

For whatever reason Kyvalley Red could not get it going in the men’s doubles with Forde and Mann losing to Cooper and Maskell 4-8.

The Kyvalley Red women were significantly stronger, going undefeated in their matches against Black throughout the day with Rebecca Gell and Fiona Owen dominating Renae Fleming and Melissa Williams.

Building on Kyvalley Red’s women’s momentum the mixed pairings also went undefeated through their matches with Forde and Lloyd defeating Cooper and Williams (8-6) in the only close result in the category.

Kyvalley Black’s Cooper took out best-and-fairest honours with 16 votes, followed closely by Dale Phillips from Undera on 14 votes and Fiona Owen from Kyvalley Red in third on 10 votes.
