Shepparton Golf bounced back from its shock loss to Shepparton Park with a clinical 16-98 to 2-85 win over East Shepparton to regain its ascendancy atop the weekend pennant division two ladder.

Golf showed its class throughout the match, enjoying three rink wins in what was a powerful performance across the green.

Robbie Betson was particularly impressive for Shepparton Golf, reeling off a dominant 23-13 win to ensure his side enjoyed a comfortable lead for the majority of proceedings.

Roy Brown (29-24) and Richard Warburton (24-20) continued Golf’s strong day with crucial rink wins, while Graeme McKinnis made sure the Eagles registered some points with a 28-22 win in rink one.

Shepparton Park survived a major scare, registering its sixth win of the year with a 15-84 to 3-79 victory over cellar-dweller Rushworth.

A tight match from start to finish, the two sides could not be split in rink one before Park pulled away with two late victories to seal the win.

Rushworth would have been confident it could pull off the upset when Chris Garvey saluted in rink two with a telling 26-16 win.

But Kelvin Rogash returned serve in rink three, inspiring a 24-15 triumph that gave his side the platform it needed to come away with the all-important win.

Mooroopna Golf solidified its spot in the top four with a vital 14-99 to 4-88 win over Tatura-Hill Top on its home green.

A 39-14 rink four win for William Malins would prove to be the difference in the game as the two teams split the rinks.

Mooroopna rounded out the division two winners’ list, flexing its muscles with a convincing 17-118 to 1-64 win over Kyabram.

•Avenel played the role of spoiler in division three action, getting over Shepparton Golf 14-94 to 4-91 in a thriller at Shepparton Golf Bowls Club.

A 33-14 win for Geoff Hateley in rink one set up a nice platform for Avenel, before Josh McDonald finished the job with a telling 30-21 victory in rink four.

Kris Wright (34-12) did all she could to get the game back on Golf’s terms in rink three, but it wouldn’t be enough as it now finds itself in danger of falling out of the top four with one week remaining in the home and away season.

Shepparton Park ensured it would enter the finals in second position, getting over the line 15-98 to 3-94 in a tight encounter against Stanhope.

In a match where all four rinks were decided by five shots or less, Park managed to get the better of the big moments, with Wesley Gibbs (30-25) and Murray Phillips (27-24) delivering the two performances needed to secure the victory.

Seymour continued its perfect season with a dominant 18-110 to 0-74 win over Mooroopna.

While Tallygaroopna locked away third sport with a clinical 16-93 to 2-69 triumph over East Shepparton.

•Kyabram avoided falling victim to a major upset in division four action, producing a thrilling 15-98 to 3-94 win over bottom-placed Dookie.

Gerald Ryan got things rolling for the underdogs, reeling off an impressive 32-24 victory to instil belief in his team.

But the Bombers managed to get the game back on their terms courtesy of a pair of 27-21 wins for Ted Hazelman and Ray Harrison in rinks two and three.

Seymour VRI was far too good for cross town rival Seymour, coming away an 18-146 to 0-55 winner in what was a dominant performance.

Nagambie showed it is a forced to be reckoned with, easily accounting for Euroa 18-126 to 0-60 on its home green.

While Tatura-Hill Top claimed its fourth win of the season with a solid 14-98 to 4-77 victory over Shepparton Park.

•Division five action had Tatura-Hill Top, Seymour VRI, Mooroopna Golf and Tallygaroopna come away with the points.

•While in division six, Colbinabbin, Kyabram and Shepparton Park 1 registered victories in the north with Dookie and Rushworth battling out a tie, and in the south, it was Alexandra 1, Eildon 1 and Eildon 2 that produced wins.
