The first day of Goulburn Valley Playing Area midweek pennant finals action was impacted by wet weather on Tuesday.

Only a handful of games were able to be completed as rain lashed the region for the first round of finals.

The semi-final contests in division three will be played on Thursday, along with the division four south match between Shepparton Park and Murchison.

Dookie and Colbinabbin was the other washed out game in division five and will take place on Thursday.

Thankfully, a couple of cut-throat deciders were able to be thrashed out in division one.

Edna Harling Shield heavyweight Shepparton Golf was on the receiving end of a brutal defeat at the hands of Tatura-Hill Top.

The Bulldogs roared into premiership favouritism following their rollicking 16-90 to 0-55 thrashing of the minor premier at Euroa Bowls Club.

David Cartwright ran riot with a 32-15 triumph.

Teammates and fellow skips Rodney Madill (26-22) and Trevor Downie (32-18) ensured the Bulldogs secured the first ticket to the grand final.

The upsets continued to flow in the remaining semi-final.

Seymour edged out Kyabram in a gutsy 14-70 to 2-65 victory to book a seat in the preliminary final against Golf.

Maree Boswell and her rink got Kyabram off to a flyer with a 22-17 triumph, however, Seymour was able to peg the scores back on the remaining two rinks.

The match reached a fever pitch, one that was certain to have the windows fogging up, as Seymour skipped away by five shots.

Seymour’s Ian Eichfuss scored a 27-23 victory, while fellow skip Robert Brown pencilled in a 26-20 result.

Both semi-finals were completed in division two, with Euroa and Shepparton Golf the sides left with smiles on their faces.

Euroa is through to the grand final following its dominant 15-87 to 1-46 win over Kyabram.

Tony Kingma and his rink members said “thank your mother for the rabbits” with a classy 36-11 triumph.

Fellow Euroa skip Margaretha Cerini ran out to a 28-12 victory.

The rink between Libby Byrne and Kyabram’s Jill Barrett (23-23) shared the points.

Shepparton Golf will now face Kyabram next week following its tense 13-shot win over Seymour.

The Golfers went down on two rinks, but a mammoth 34-15 win by John Tucker secured a 12-76 to 4-63 win.

In division four north, Numurkah was left stunned by Shepparton Golf.

Numurkah suffered its second loss of the season and went down by 12 shots to the grand final-bound Golfers.

The 26-13 rink win by Anthony Giovanetti was enough for Golf to fall across the line.

In division four south action, both Seymour outfits got the job done over their challengers.
