Shepparton Golf maintained its perfect start to the Goulburn Valley Playing Area midweek pennant division one Edna Harling Shield season, besting Seymour by one shot in a thrilling contest at Seymour Bowling Club.

A gripping match from start to finish, the class of the Golfers would hold firm in the finish as they limped over the line for the 12-73 to 4-72 triumph.

Seymour looked to be in control for large portions of the match and claimed two of the three rink victories courtesy of Graeme Flint (27-20) and Max Flint (25-24).

But the buffer those two victories created wasn’t enough to counter the efforts of Kris Wright in rink one, who orchestrated a pivotal 29-20 triumph to slightly tip the scales in Golf’s favour.

The remaining division one results were blow-outs.

East Shepparton climbed up to second spot on the ladder with a 16-73 to 0-51 over reigning premier Tatura-Hill Top.

Kyabram was far too good for Euroa, as it dominated from beginning to end to record a 14-84 to 2-52 triumph.

While Shepparton Park rounded out the winners’ list with a comfortable 14-77 to 2-52 victory over Rushworth.
