Mitchell Rangers Soccer Club has put the call out for players of all ages and abilities to come and give the round ball a go this winter as pre-season training begins.

Flying the flag as the only competitive soccer team in Mitchell Shire, the Rangers pride themselves on being a strong community-based club that is inclusive of all keen to get involved in in the game.

Based at Broadford Recreation Reserve, training sessions are held on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6.30pm to 8.30pm and are open to absolutely everybody.

Mitchell Rangers president Mark Williams said he would love to see as many new faces as possible out on the track in the coming weeks.

“This time of year, we are after as many new, existing and all standard players for all teams across the board,” Williams said.

“We don’t trial, so if people want to come and play, they are more than welcome and we will find them a team somewhere. It is very laidback and all about having fun out there on the pitch.”

Williams said it was the club’s community feel that set it apart from others in northern Victoria, with minimal fees, a strong social culture and its inclusivity making it a fantastic fit for all those interested in the round ball.

“We are a community-based soccer club that loves to give back to the game. We have a Saturday morning little Rangers program for five to seven-year-olds which is free and also have an all-abilities program we are really excited about,” he said.

“Fees-wise, we are very competitive as well and all kits are supplied, so it is a fantastic opportunity for anyone interested in the round ball game to get involved.”

The senior and reserves men’s seasons will begin on Saturday, March 19, and finish on August 27, while the senior women’s season begins on Sunday, April 24, and concludes between August 28 and September 11.

Dates for the all-abilities program are yet to be confirmed and will be communicated by the club in due course.
