After an extensive grading block that included 11 games, the three Goulburn Valley Suns junior sides are now in the thick of regular season action.

With three rounds now played, there have been mixed results across the grades, with the sides now competing in the National Premier League Three South/East competition.

The Suns’ under-18s squad has had a blistering start to the year, with the side undefeated and sitting in third on the ladder after its opening three games.

In round one the side got over the line against Langwarrin, with a Declan Kinnane brace and a late Hassan Alhilfi goal enough to see the team run out 3-2 victors.

Round two saw another big success, with a massive 6-1 win over Kingston City, before a come-from-behind 1-1 away draw in round three against Ashburton stood in the way of the side winning three in a row.

The under-16s on the other hand have been unlucky with their results, winning one and losing two.

In round one, the under-16s fell to Langwarrin in a 3-2 thriller, with Muhammad Ali Alizada scoring a brace for the Suns.

The tables turned in round two, with another Ali Alizada brace and a Laywi Niyonkuru strike helping the side to a 3-1 home win over Mornington.

Unfortunately for the side, it could not get it done in round three, with Ali Alizada’s fifth goal in three games not enough as the side fell to Ashburton 3-1.

In the under-14s, the Suns have had a tough start to the season, falling to the Manningham United Blues 5-0 in round one, before going down to Kingston City 1-3 at home in round two, with Iftikhar Saifu on the score sheet.

The side unfortunately had to forfeit its round three clash.

This weekend the under-14s will travel to Glen Iris to take on Ashburton on Sunday at 10am.

Meanwhile both the under-16s and under-18s will battle with Gippsland at McEwen Reserve on Sunday, with the under-16s kicking off at 1.15pm and the under-18s at 3.15pm.
