Round eight of the Picola and District netball league saw a variety of joy and disappointment for sides across the region.

The Yarroweyah girls faced Rennie at the Yarroweyah Recreation Reserve and Rennie proved too strong, saluting 77-19.

Meanwhile, Katamatite netballers followed the example of their football counterparts and took down Tocumwal, 51-13.

Though Strathmerton prevailed against Deniliquin in the footy, their netball team wasn’t so lucky, falling to their northern foes 44-36.

Meanwhile, Tungamah took down Blighty, 50-33, and Katandra narrowly saw off Waiaa 39-36.

In the Murray Netball League it was a similar situation with teams across the area returning with a mixed bag of results.

Cobram netballers tried valiantly, playing at Scott Reserve, only to see their efforts be in vain as they fell to Tongala 52-39.

It was no better luck across the border as the Barooga netball team failed to replicate their footballing team success, falling to Echuca United 45-27.

Moama took out Nathalia on the latter’s home court 54-27.
