The road ahead is now clearer for Tongala as its first Murray Netball League finals opponent is set.

Tongala’s dominant 30-goal win over Cobram and Moama’s draw with Nathalia on Saturday have set the Blues and the Magpies on an elimination final collision course.

The results mean they have locked in fourth and fifth spots respectively and will meet at Congupna in a fight for survival on Sunday, August 28.

Tongala coach Paige Wade is pumped about her side’s prospects as the league barrels towards finals.

“Moama’s draw with Nathalia shows that third, fourth and fifth have been close all year,” Wade said.

“The finals series should be very exciting and our young team is looking forward to the challenge.”

Tongala’s lead-in to finals continued by ending Cobram’s recent winning streak.

A dominant showing in goal by Milly Brock set the standard, while down the other end it was Corey Drennan who lifted the Blues’ back court.

“It was a pretty good four-quarter performance to get the job done,” Wade said.

“Obviously the last two weeks before finals that’s what we’ll be doing, finishing the season well.

“Milly shot well and provided, as she always does, a really good target. It was one of her better games for the season.

“Corey initiated a lot of turnovers, and she was really good at bringing the ball out of defence.”

Around the league, Mulwala secured sixth spot with a 10-goal win over Finley, with the Cats officially bowing out of the finals race.

The Purples will battle it out against Rumbalara for the coveted double chance this Saturday, with the winner securing second spot.

Meanwhile, Deniliquin kept its unbeaten streak alive with a 76-18 win over Numurkah.

The Rams will have the opportunity to seal an unblemished home-and-away season against the Tigers in the final round.
